Chelmsford BC Revolutionise Debt Recovery
Chelmsford Borough Council have revolutionised their debt recovery processes and have achieved 98% of all debts recovered in 90 days. This innovative approach has been led through the introduction of a dedicated recovery focus within the Finance section, and the transfer of responsibility of difficult debts from Legal, back to Finance. The team are making use of the TotalFinance Enhanced Debtors functionality, combined with a standardised process for all debts to be actioned within the first 90 days.
With reducing budgets, combining the creditors and debtors sections into a single team has afforded efficiencies of scale, reducing the overall head count by one FTE and sharing the peaks in workload through the year.
The Service Departments are pleased with the better management information and the improved income results have enabled them to focus on their service delivery rather than debt handling.
