Last week 15 Councils and Housing Associations from the North East took the first steps towards improving the efficiency and productivity of front line services by addressing the benefits that mobile working technology can provide their organisation.
Members of various departments within Councils attended the event, hosted by Consilium, at Durham Cricket Ground.
In the face of cuts to public funding, tactics such as implementing a mobile technology strategy is one of the few ways Local Government can make savings whilst protecting the front line services that they provide to people in the local area.
The event included a range of local case studies from organisations who have transformed working processes including, Gateshead Council, South Tyneside Homes and Homes for Northumberland. Neil Golightly from Newcastle City Council, also spoke at the event to outline their experience using TotalMobile from Consilium.
Consilium’s Ciaran McClintock hosted the event; “It was great to see the turnout at this event, we had 32 representatives from 15 councils. This shows that local governments in the North East are looking into effective ways of saving money that won’t negatively impact council services. They obviously want to make the spending cuts less painful for people. We’ve seen great results from customers who use the TotalMobile system. For example, one customer is saving £1.5m a year. We hope to repeat this success in Councils across the UK”
A similar event “Mobile Working in Scotland” is taking place in COSLA Headquarters in Edinburgh this week. 19 Scottish Councils have signed up for this event, making it the most popular regional seminar Consilium have hosted to date!
