Scottish Councils attend Mobile Working Event to Tackle Cuts

Last Wednesday, 19 Councils from all over Scotland took the first steps towards improving the efficiency of front line services and saving money by looking into the benefits that mobile working technology can provide their organisations. 42 representatives from various departments within the Councils attended the event, hosted by Consilium, at COSLA Headquarters in Edinburgh.

Cuts to public funding for Councils put the front line services provided to the community at risk. Implementing a mobile technology strategy is one of the few ways Local Government can make savings whilst protecting these services. The event included a range of local case studies from organisations who have transformed working processes with TotalMobile™ from Consilium including Midlothian Council, Highland Council and Riverclyde Homes. Kenny Don from Aberdeen City Council, also spoke at the event to discuss how TotalMobile™ from Consilium has helped them achieve cost savings of £1.5 million since working with Consilium.

Mobile Working software like TotalMobile™ can improve the services provided by councils by saving money through reduced travel time, fuel costs and administration. Costly, time-consuming paperwork is replaced by an effective electronic system used by remote workers on their personal mobile device.  Consilium’s Ciaran McClintock hosted the event; “This event was the best attended seminar we have held to date. Councils in Scotland are obviously very keen to implement Mobile Working. There is a sense that this is an opportunity for them to address the cuts they are facing, but still provide excellent services to people in the local area.”
