BT and Consilium partner to enable the transformation of public services
BT Education & Local Government has formed a strategic partnership with Consilium Technologies, a Northern Ireland based IT company. Together they will target the Local Government “middle market” of medium sized local authorities with transformational solutions to deliver more effective and efficient services.
Consilium Technologies, a leading provider of IT solutions to local authorities across the UK, has been selected as a strategic software partner to BT’s Education & Local Government division. BT Education & Local Government provides a strong knowledge of the local government market through its work with councils of all sizes. BT’s track record includes strategic partnerships with Liverpool CC, Rotherham MBC, Suffolk CC and Mid-Suffolk DC and Essex CC. Through the partnership with Consilium, BT’s proven capability in helping local authorities to realise business benefits and efficiencies is now available to medium sized councils and groups of smaller councils, offering access to process re-engineering, change management (including communications and training support), programme management and systems integration services, as well as BT’s ICT infrastructure products and services.
Coming together Consilium and BT have developed a competitive offering of software applications and consultancy services for mid-sized District, County and Metropolitan councils. The services will enable councils to transform the delivery of their services in order to gain greater efficiencies as well as creating a migration path to delivering “Shared Services” as a means of achieving considerable scale efficiencies. The five year framework agreement, has already resulted in a new business win, with Swindon Borough Council signing a £1.5million ‘Works Order Management’ contract.
Consilium is a leading player in the UK market, where it currently provides financial and contract solutions to over 100 local authorities.
According to Colin Reid, Chief Executive of Consilium, the partnership with BT offers the company a firm platform upon which it can maximise opportunities and further strengthen its position across the GB Local Government market.
“Our reputation, together with the range of software applications and solutions we offer, has enabled us to significantly grow our business throughout the UK’s local authority market. This ‘referencability’ is crucial as it proves to both BT and to potential customers that we have the products and service experience in place to positively impact on the day to day business of local authorities.
“By combining this know-how with BT’s established presence and penetration, the partnership will bring a consolidated business solution, primed to meet the developing needs of a local authority market which is increasingly citizen-focused, efficient and accountable.”
Mike Blackburn, Sales Director, BT Education & Local Government added, “Our partnership with Consilium gives us the right solutions to take to the mid-market as well as consolidating and extending our successes in the local government market to date. Consilium’s established presence and range of solutions along with our options for a hosted service provides many of the capabilities that councils need to achieve the improvements and efficiencies they seek. This partnership formalises and builds upon a successful business relationship which has already been running for a number of years.”
